Dawn Densmore is the Program Director for the Engineering Institute.
Densmore serves as Director of Outreach & Marketing, for the UVM College of Engineering & Mathematics and was awarded the 2011 IEEE “Leadership” award by the Green Mountain Section of that organization “for seminal improvements to the state of the art of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Education,” and for further contributing “to the advancement of the engineering profession.”
Densmore has been leading the outreach programs of the College of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences at UVM since 1990. The outreach activities of the college comprise several educational programs for young people and are organized in collaboration with schools across Vermont. Specific programs include the George Aiken/Design TASC (Technology And Science Connection) competition; the Governor’s Institute of Vermont in engineering; the MATHCOUNTS club and competition, and Engineers’ Week.
In addition Densmore is responsible for press and news releases for the UVM College of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences, and has oversight for the College’s outreach and news web sites. She also serves as Editorial Assistant for both the Environmental Engineering Science (EES) and the Numerical Methods in Partial Differential Equations (NMPDE) Journals.
Her focus is energizing young people across the state to explore and grow in the disciplines of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, areas that are highly important to the future economic growth of Vermont.
