Program Information:
- Learn about math and its applications
- Hands-on and and minds-on academic activities
- Interact with reknowned mathematicians
You like mathematics, and you are good at it, but what are you going to do with it? If this is a question
you ask yourself then this Institute will help you find the answer.
The summer GIV Mathematical Sciences Institute is a five-day intensive immersion in mathematics, and applications
of mathematics in the sciences, biomedicine, technology and engineering. Students live on the University
of Vermont Redstone campus, attend stimulating lectures and seminars, and engage in hands-on and minds-on
mathematically based activities. You will interact in classes, seminars, and one-on-one with reknowned
mathematicians and prominent experts in areas of science and technology. A mathematics and science career
panel discussion will present the wide range of college and career choices available to students who are
mathematically inclined. Evenings are spent working on mathematics problem sets and projects, and hanging out
with fellow student-mathematicians. There will be a field trip, a cook-out at North Beach, and a ton of fun
with like-minded individuals.
