Program Information:

  • Study with professional Vermont artists
  • Take risks & try new things
  • Build giant puppets for the community 4th of July parade
Artistic excellence, challenge, and excitement describe this two-week Institute that is designed to celeberate and explore the creative experience. The Arts Institute will enroll about 100 students in 2008. It is our largest Institute and is held on the campus of Castleton State College in Castleton. This Institute has evolved into a lively artistic community, bringing together outstanding artists and highly motivated students to explore the process of creativity.

You will be encouraged to study an area of art that is new to you, in addition to studying your chosen field. Courses include: dance, choreography, music, performance, composition, painting, drawing, graphics, sculpture, writing, and theater. A community 4th of July parade is one of the highlights of this Institute.

A typical day begins with the entire Institute gathering for chorus. You then focus on your areas of interest. Seminars and workshops given by visiting artists support the work of faculty and staff. The goal "to be the best you can be" is expanded further through the evening performance series, whcih introduces you to nationally known artists.
