The Governor's Institutes of Vermont (GIV) has been creating life-changing experiences for youth since 1983. We provide intensive, challenging educational opportunties on college campuses where students have the opportunity to study with some of Vermont's finest academic and artistic professionals.
Where Does GIV Get Its Funding?
Approximately one-third of GIV's operating funds come from student tuition
Another third comes from an annual appropriation from the State of Vermont
Fundraising provides the remaining 33%
What About GIV's Scholarship Support For Students?
It is a fundamental policy of GIV that no student will be turned away because of financial need. Historically, 35 percent of the students attending have qualified for an been awarded financial aid to help cover part or all of that modest tuition fee.
Funding for financial aid must come from grants and individual contributions. There is no endowment to help support the Institutes.
For more information about supporting GIV please contact Jean Olson, Excecutive Director at giv@sover.net or (802) 229-4757.
"I worked harder in those two weeks at GIA toward a positive goal than I have in any other two-week time period in my life and I loved every second of it. I will always be grateful for this opportunity I was able to take advantage of, thanks to your financial generosity."
