University of Vermont, Burlington

This 2 year program is intended for Vermont high school students who are currently  freshman or sophomores.  During the first summer of the program, students will spend a week on the campus of UVM learning about Asia.  After the week on campus at UVM, they will be given assignments which they will complete over the next 11 months.  Successful completion of the assignments will make them eligible to travel to China the following summer.

Program Information:

  • Learn about Asia's language, customs and issues
  • Hands-on and academic activities with Asia experts
  • Opportunity to go to China the following summer

The Institute on Asian Cultures is co-sponsored with the Asian Studies Outreach Program at the University of Vermont with a grant from the Freeman Foundation.  The Institute will focus on Chinese and Japanese cultures with introductions to other Asian cultures.  For more information, check out the Asian Cultures web site.
